I agree with Lil Girly below. A bit more background info would help; however, you've painted a word picture that's viable. Sounds like your character is lost in the moment but you might like to include additional detail. Specifically, describe why she'd necessarily be surprised to hear a Jamaican speaking her when she's already been immersed in raggae music. Hope this helps.
