University of Phoenix. Is it a real school?

I keep hearing all sorts of things. I want to complete the majority of degree online, which is why it is appealling. I also got into a nationally rank university that offers online programs. I don't want to spend all this money only to have a meaningless degree. Any advice is appreciated.
