Help with a Red Paint Fiasco!!!?

I had wallpaper in my bathroom that was stripped. There was also holes in the wall from a towel rack the prior owner decided to glue to the drywall. So there is some larger patchwork with spackle. I sanded the spackle down as best as I could. I got the new Behr Ultra Premium paint (Dare Devil Red) that has a built in primer. I applied the first coat last night and it looks terriable. You can see all the patchwork ( the paint went on darker around the patches). All the brush strokes are visable. Also the color is much lighter than what was intended and the paint is kinda soupy and hard to work with much like regular primer. Im thinking about going to a mocha brown. Should I reprime the red, or do you think I should give the red a few more coats.
